Profit Margin Calculator (Custom)

Not one of the big platforms? Set your own referral/selling fee and payment fee percentages, then add shipping, handling, COGS, PPC and returns for a true net margin on any channel.

Your numbers, your channel

For marketplaces we don't have a dedicated page for yet.

The Custom calculator starts from the same engine as the platform pages but lets you type the two fee rates that matter: a referral / selling fee % (the marketplace's cut of the sale) and a payment fee % + fixed (the processor's cut). Then enter your shipping to customer, handling, COGS, PPC and a returns allowance.

This is the right page for regional marketplaces, niche platforms, or any channel where you already know the fee schedule. For Amazon, Shopify, eBay or Etsy, use the dedicated page so the fee presets and copy match that platform.

Worked example

Price $29.99, COGS $7.50, shipping $3.50, handling $1.50, landed $0, PPC $2.00, returns 3%, referral 15%, payment 2.9% + $0.30:

LineAmount
Referral / selling fee (15%)$4.50
Payment fee (2.9% + $0.30)$1.17
Shipping to customer$3.50
Handling / fulfilment$1.50
COGS + PPC + landed$9.50
Returns allowance (3%)$0.90
Net profit / unit$8.92 (29.7% margin)

Defaults mirror a generic 15% marketplace; change the two percentages to match your actual channel.

Custom โ€” FAQ

What are the two fee percentages?
The referral / selling fee % is the marketplace's cut of the sale (like Amazon's referral or eBay's final-value fee). The payment fee % + fixed is the processor's charge (like Shopify Payments or Etsy Payments).
When should I use this instead of a platform page?
Use Custom for any channel without a dedicated page, or when you already know the exact fee schedule and want to type it directly. For Amazon/Shopify/eBay/Etsy, the dedicated pages have the right presets and guidance.
Does it include FBA?
No โ€” Custom models a marketplace + processor fee with your own shipping and handling. For Amazon fulfilment costs specifically, use the Amazon FBA page.
