Rates are indicative MFN figures for common classifications and exclude trade-agreement reductions, anti-dumping duties and product-specific rules. They are a planning reference, not a legal classification. Always confirm the exact rate on the official tariff (e.g. hts.usitc.gov for the US, tariffnumber.com for the EU) before you rely on it. SellHandy is not a customs broker. Note: some categories — including Canada and Japan — have not been individually verified against the official 2026 tariff schedules; treat them as indicative and confirm on the official source.

Every import number in one place

HS code is the key that unlocks duty. SellHandy hands it to the duty and profit tools so the chain stays unbroken.

What an HS code actually does for you

The same product can face a 0% or a 26% duty depending only on its code. Get it right before you price.

What is an HS code

The Harmonized System (HS) code is a 6-digit international number that classifies traded products. Customs use it to decide the duty rate. Countries extend it to 8–10 digits for their own tariffs (the US HTS, the EU TARIC, the UK tariff, Australia's AHECC). The first 6 digits are shared globally — that's what this tool shows.

Why the code changes your landed cost

Duty is rate × customs value, and the rate is set by the code. A cotton T-shirt (6109.10) is ~16.5% in the US; a ceramic mug (6911.10) is ~26%; many electronics are 0% under the Information Technology Agreement. Pick the wrong code and you either overpay or risk a penalty. Our library covers the categories sellers ask about most, with indicative rates for six major destinations side by side so you can see where importing is cheapest.

From code to duty, without re-typing

Once you've found your product, hit Send to Import Duty. The HS code and the duty rate for your chosen destination travel straight into the duty calculator — no copy-paste, no transcription error. That's the whole point of SellHandy: each tool feeds the next.

Worked example

A seller of cotton T-shirts checks the code 6109.10:

DestinationIndicative duty
🇺🇸 United States16.5%
🇪🇺 European Union12%
🇬🇧 United Kingdom12%
🇦🇺 Australia5%

Indicative only — confirm on the official tariff. Differences this large are exactly why the destination matters before you choose a warehouse or shipping route.

HS Code Lookup FAQ

What is an HS code?
The Harmonized System code is a 6-digit international number that classifies traded products. Customs use it to set the duty rate. Countries add digits for their own tariffs (US HTS, EU TARIC, UK tariff, Australia AHECC, Canada Customs Tariff or Japan tariff).
Are these rates exact?
No — they are indicative MFN rates for common classifications. They exclude trade-agreement reductions, anti-dumping duties and product-specific rules. Confirm the exact rate on the official tariff before you rely on it.
Can I enter my own code?
Yes. Use the "Or enter your own HS code" panel to type any code and duty rate, then send it to the Import Duty calculator.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
100% free, no sign-up, and everything runs in your browser — the numbers you enter never leave your device.
Will this legally classify my product?
No. Proper classification can require expert judgement and binding rulings. Treat this as a fast planning reference and consult a customs broker for a firm answer.
