Wayfair CastleGate Fee Calculator
Wayfair CastleGate fees look simple until you stack unload + positioning + the storage curve. This calculator classifies your carton on the official size tiers and nets the full inbound-to-outbound cost per unit — with Asia Logistics routing and dwell time built in.

CastleGate cost
What does CastleGate really cost per unit?
CastleGate is Wayfair's own fulfillment network. Unlike a typical marketplace fee stack there is no referral commission — instead your costs are: a per-carton Unload Fee at inbound, a one-time Positioning Fee per cubic foot (free if you route via Asia Logistics), monthly Storage that is free for the first 90 days and then steps up with dwell time, and a per-unit Fulfillment Fee when orders ship. Rates are published on the official rate card by size class (Bin / Small / Large / Heavy, then Standard Small → Heavy for furniture). This calculator takes your carton dimensions, weight, quantity and routing, classifies the carton, and returns the full CastleGate cost per unit — including the storage curve and any positioning charge.
How the CastleGate fee calculator works
CastleGate prices every carton through four separate fee lines — unload, positioning, storage and fulfillment — and the size class decides three of them. This tool walks the full stack to a per-carton total.
The numbers it works with
Unload and fulfillment are per-carton fees set by size class, from $0.02 + $0.26 for a Bin carton up to $4.96 + $12.00 for Heavy. Positioning is a one-time per-cubic-foot charge — $0 for Asia Logistics inbound, otherwise $0.22–$1.19 depending on routing and hub. Storage is a monthly per-cubic-foot rate that is $0 for the first 90 days, then climbs through $0.44, $0.70, $1.05, $1.40 and $4.20 as dwell passes 120, 180, 270 and 365 days.
The formula
Cost per carton = unload + fulfillment + positioning (per cu ft × carton volume) + storage (carton volume × month-rate × dwell months). The size class comes either from your carton dimensions against the official class rules or from your own selection, since the dropdown lets you pin the exact rate-card line.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure is from the official CastleGate North America rate card effective 2026-07-01. The dwell-day input matters because storage bills daily and the tier you land in changes the number more than any other field.
Read the CastleGate number the right way
For a Wayfair supplier the single most important figure is cost per carton at your expected dwell, because it decides both your wholesale price and how long inventory can sit before it turns negative. The classic mistake is comparing only storage rates with a 3PL: CastleGate's 90-day free storage and $0 Asia Logistics positioning often make it cheaper than a 3PL for fast movers, while slow movers hit the 121-180 day tier at double the 91-120 rate. Run the same carton at 90, 120 and 180 days to see where your break-even dwell sits.
Routing is a cost decision, not a logistics detail
Asia Logistics inbound removes the positioning fee entirely and adds a $0.09/cu ft Document Credit — for a 65 CBM container that is roughly $200 back per container. If you ship via other routes, Wayfair-Chosen (following the recommended hub) is materially cheaper than Supplier-Chosen. Pick routing before you book freight, not after.
Watch dwell, not just the fee table
Storage is free for 90 days and then steps up aggressively ($0.44 → $0.70 → $1.05 → $1.40 → $4.20). Inventory past 181 days is eroding margin at $1.05/cu ft/mo — the point where CastleGate's own playbooks (CG Markdown, RTV, liquidation, disposal) become relevant. Keep annualized turnover above 4 turns and storage stays effectively at zero.
Every CastleGate cost in one place
CastleGate hides the full cost across unload, positioning, the storage curve and fulfillment by size class. Each calculator surfaces one Wayfair cost before it eats your margin.

Wayfair CastleGate Fee Calculator — FAQ
Does Wayfair charge a referral fee or commission?
No. Wayfair operates a supplier model — you set a wholesale price and Wayfair sets the retail price and sells it. Your costs on the platform are the CastleGate fees (unload, positioning, storage, fulfillment) and any penalties; there is no referral or commission line. This is why CastleGate cost, not commission, is the number that matters.
How is the storage fee calculated?
Storage = carton volume (L×W×H ÷ 1,728) × the dwell-tier rate per cubic foot per month. The first 90 days are free; then $0.44/cu ft/mo for 91-120 days, $0.70 for 121-180, $1.05 for 181-270, $1.40 for 271-365 and $4.20 past 365 days (Large-Heavy/Heavy classes use the lower curve). Billing accrues daily — this calculator prorates by your dwell-days input.
What is the Positioning Fee and how do I avoid it?
It is a one-time fee per cubic foot for placing inbound inventory across the CastleGate network. Route via Asia Logistics and it is $0 (plus a $0.09/cu ft Document Credit). Wayfair-Chosen costs $0.59 (West) / $0.22 (non-West) per cu ft; Supplier-Chosen costs $1.19 / $0.59.
Which size class is my carton?
The rate card classifies by carton: Bin / Small / Large / Heavy for small parcels, then Standard Small (L+girth ≤105"), Standard Medium (≤96"L, ≤110 lb), Standard Large (≤108"L, ≤120 lb), Oversize (≤150 lb), Large-Heavy (sofa, ≤250 lb) and Heavy (dresser, 250-800 lb). This calculator auto-detects an approximation from your dimensions and weight, and lets you override with the exact tier.
Is this an official Wayfair tool?
No — this is SellHandy's planning calculator. It uses the official North America rate card (effective 2026-07-01) as editable defaults. Always confirm against your Partner Home → CastleGate Rate Card Categorization Details and your invoices.
What about penalties and multichannel?
Penalties are not modeled: no-show or <48h cancellation $200 per SPO, SPO quantity deviation beyond ±40% $1,500, and empty-container pickup past 72h incurs per-day fees. If you use CastleGate only for other platforms (Multichannel-only), pick&ship is $17.05 first lb + $0.20/lb and carries a +15% surcharge.
