How do I calculate CBM for furniture?+
Measure every carton (length × width × height in metres) and sum them. Furniture ships flat-packed in many cartons, so the batch tab lets you list each carton once with its quantity — the calculator totals the CBM across the whole shipment.
Do furniture shipments pay on weight or volume?+
Almost always on volume (CBM). Under the W/M rule the carrier charges the greater of CBM or weight/1000, and furniture is light for its size, so CBM wins. Very dense items like marble tops are the exception.
How much furniture fits in a 20ft or 40ft container?+
A 20ft gives roughly 28 CBM usable, a 40ft about 58 CBM, a 40ft HC about 68 CBM. Flat-pack furniture packs efficiently; assembled pieces waste space, so prefer flat-pack for sea freight.
